Nursery Information
St. Mark’s nursery is open for infants through 4-year-old children whose parents are in worship or Faith Formation each Sunday morning from 8:30 AM until 12:30 PM. We have a wonderful and devoted staff members, Jenny Horton & Sara Barone, assisted with many caring volunteers to watch over our youngest members and visitors. The nursery is located downstairs at the end of the hallway, near the back entrance (please ask ushers for assistance).
We need several volunteers to assist on a rotating schedule for both the 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM services. Are you someone who loves children? This is an excellent opportunity to engage with our children and families. Are you a parent with a child that will be using the nursery? This is a great opportunity for you and your child to connect with other kids and parents. Are you a parent whose child has aged out of the nursery? This is an opportunity to engage with our young children and enjoy their squeals and laughter. Are you a grandparent? This is a wonderful opportunity to nurture the kids and give them another positive influence in their young world.
To volunteer or for more information, contact Kathy Jo McLean by email or at 704-682-3521 or Susan Uzarski by email or at 724-456-4119.

For Lutherans, worship stands at the center of our life of faith. Through God’s word, water, bread and prayer we are nurtured in faith and sent out into the world.
Connected with and central to everything we do, worship unites us in celebration, engages us in thoughtful dialogue and helps us grow in faith. It grounds us in our Christian and Lutheran roots, while demonstrating practical relevance for today’s world.
While some of the approaches to worship may differ from one ELCA congregation to another, we hold certain things in common. Central to our worship life is the presence of God through word and sacrament. The word proclaimed and the sacraments —both Holy Baptism and Holy Communion — are called the means of grace. We believe that Jesus Christ is present in these means through the power of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we describe worship as a “gathering around the means of grace.”
There is also a basic 4-part pattern for worship among Lutherans. We gather. We encounter God’s word. We share a meal at the Lord’s table. And we are sent into the world. But we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is fundamentally about what God is doing and our response to God’s action. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING DEVICES - are now available in the Sanctuary entryway. If you're having trouble hearing the sermon or the music during worship each week please ask one of the ushers for an Assistive Listening Device. They will be able to answer questions and ensure you're comfortable using the device. Worship and Music Committee strives to ensure that everyone has a positive worship experience each week, and one of the ways we can help is by providing Assistive Listening Devices for those who need it. Look for signs in the Sanctuary Entryway.
