Welcome

Prelude Handbell Choir- Were You There edited by M. Prins

(we stand in body and/or spirit)
We gather here in the name of God +, who creates, redeems, and sustains us in grace.
Amen.
Let us praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to God all my life long.
The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord watches over the strangers.
The Lord upholds the orphan and the widow but brings ruin to the wicked.
Ruin my wickedness, O God. Open the eyes of my heart Lord. Open the eyes of my heart. Help me to see your grace, to know your grace, and to share your grace with all people. For you Lord reign now and forever. (inspiration of Psalm 146)
People of God, hear this good news: God’s grace is abundantly given to you. A promise has been made: “My law is within them and will written on their hearts; I will be their God and they will be my people. I forgive them and remember their sin no more. (Jer.31)”

Amen.

Hymn                                      Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord

Open the eyes of my heart Lord. Open the Eyes of my heart. I want to see you. I want to see you. [repeat]
To see you high and lifted up; shining in the light of your glory. Pour out your power and love as we sing holy, holy, holy.
Open the eyes of my heart Lord. Open the Eyes of my heart. I want to see you. I want to see you.
Holy, holy, holy. [repeat 3x] I want to see you.

Let us pray: Bend your ear to our prayers, Lord Christ, and come among us. By your gracious life and death for us, bring sight and light into the darkness of our hearts, and anoint us with your Spirit, for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

Anthem – Handbell Choir- O Sacred Head Now Wounded edited by M. Prins

First Reading: Ephesians 5:8-14

8Once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light—9for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. 10Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. 11Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly; 13but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
 “Sleeper, awake!
  Rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Word of God. Word of life.

Thanks be to God!
