CONNECT – Connect is an intergenerational approach to faith formation, exploring a wide array of topics. Students and adults of all ages learn about God’s story together and learn from one another through sharing their stories during CONNECT. The three core values of CONNECT are to: 1.) Connect with each other; 2.) Connect with God; and 3.) Connect with the world. Since the third core value of Connect is to “connect with the world,” every third Sunday of the month CONNECT focuses on a service project for the greater community. CONNECT usually takes place Sundays at 9:45 AM in the Family Life Center.
ADULT CLASSES – Some adults prefer a smaller group setting for faith formation. In addition to CONNECT on Sunday mornings, there are several adult classes that meet at 9:30 AM. These classes are voluntarily taught by participants of the classes and utilize curriculum chosen by their class for study. Occasionally there are midweek opportunities to gather for small group learning or biblical study. Those opportunities will be listed on the calendar of events.
YOUTH MINISTRY - Youth ministry is first and foremost about creating and nurturing relationships at St. Mark’s. Through building relationships with one another and deepening our relationship with God and our neighbors, we strive to create space for youth to know that they are loved by God, and to share God’s love with others. Some of our youth ministries include:
Streams – Streams is our youth ministry geared towards students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Currently our Streams youth will continue holding a weekly “Your Turn with Pastor Vern” Zoom call on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7 PM. We also have in-person activities planned for Streams youth and their families that can be found in this schedule. If you are interested in receiving alerts, reminders, and updates about our Streams youth ministry, or would like to volunteer with this ministry, contact Pastor Vern.
Rivers – Rivers is our youth ministry geared towards middle school (grades 6-8) students. Currently, Rivers meets on the first three Sundays of each month. Sunday gatherings create space for youth to build trusting relationships with each other, to learn and ask questions about their faith, and to live out their faith in service to others. In addition to our Sunday meetings, there are activities planned both on and off-campus for our Rivers youth. If you are interested in receiving alerts, reminders and updates about our Rivers youth ministry, or would like to volunteer with this ministry, contact Pastor Vern.
Seas – Seas is our youth ministry geared towards high school (grades 9-12) students. Currently, Seas meets on the first three Sundays of each month. Sunday gatherings create space for youth to build trusting relationships with each other, to learn and ask questions about their faith, and to live out their faith in service to others. In addition to our Sunday meetings there are activities planned both on and off-campus for our Seas youth. If you are interested in receiving alerts, reminders, and updates about our Seas youth ministry, or would like to volunteer with this ministry, contact Pastor Vern.
NURSERY MINISTRY – At St. Mark’s we try to create space for people of all ages to be in a loving and welcoming community. During our worship services and faith formation time, we have a staffed nursery for children ages birth through 4 years old. Our nursery is staffed by Jenny Horton and Sara Barone. Jenny Horton is employed in the Rowan-Salisbury School system and has been a school counselor for the past 27 years; she is also a mother of three and has been a member of St. Mark's since 2007. Sara Barone is a lifelong member of St. Mark's and is currently completing paralegal certification through UNCC. In addition, we have a pager system to communicate with parents when young children may need mom or dad’s care, so that they can fully participate in our worship and faith formation experiences.
ST. MARK'S PRESCHOOL - Did you know that St. Mark’s Preschool was the first preschool in the town of Mooresville?! The preschool is a ministry that has helped form the lives and faith of individuals in the Mooresville area for generations! Children ages 2-5 are loved and taught by an amazing staff about the joys of reading, writing, and counting. Our preschool staff and pastors also teach them about the love of Jesus and how much they themselves are loved by Jesus. To learn more about St. Mark’s Preschool contact the preschool director Stephanie Mattingly, or check out their page here.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS) – St. Mark’s is known throughout the local community for the dynamic VBS experience offered to youth and families of all ages each year. Details, including dates, themes, and registration information, can be found on this page.
