Our church has a devoted group of women and men who make handmade hats, scarves, and blankets for those in need. They support Living Waters Lutheran Church in Cherokee, NC with donations of these handmade goods several times a year. Additionally, they create bandages for third world countries from sheets donated from hotels, and sleeping mats (plarn) made out of plastic grocery bags. Locally they provide lap blankets for nursing homes and the VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC, and knitted hats for newborns at the local hospitals.

Food For Days

2022-2023 Fall Backpack Ministry Volunteer/Donation Form
The Food For Days outreach program brings together volunteers from our community's churches. Each participating church has been assigned a school. St Mark's volunteer group packs meals for Park View Elementary School in downtown Mooresville.
We pack individual bags of food, for in need children, to take home for the weekends. This outreach program coincides with the children's school year, as the food distribution is through their respective school. We begin packing in September and finish with the ending of the school year in May.
We still have children in our school system that don’t have food for the weekend, and this problem is not going away. The Iredell School system and Mooresville Graded School District have at least 400 children who are considered homeless. (That means no permanent address). We have one school with over 30 students on a waiting list due to no sponsor.
St. Mark’s has generously supported 67 children out of 75 – 100 that attend Park View Elementary School. Social Ministry depends on the caring hearts of our congregation to support Food for Days, Backpack Ministry.
Cost for one child for the school year is $250.00 or any amount your heart dictates. Please indicate Food for Days on your check and envelope.
Would you like to be involved in a community outreach program that requires minimal time commitment but has a large impact on children in our area?
